Frequently Asked Questions
Here you'll find answers to most of the questions you might be wondering about, but please feel free to email us if there's anything you still have questions about.
What are your hours?
We are open Mondays from 2:00-4:00 in the afternoon for Maker Kit To-Go pickups, Thursdays from 5:00-9:30pm, Fridays from 7:00-9:30pm, Saturdays 7:00-9:30pm, and Sundays from 1:00 to 3:30pm.
Where are you located?
We are located at 24 Coachlight Drive Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
What time should I arrive?
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the workshop start time. This gives you the time to settle in and choose your paint colors before we start instruction.
What should I wear?
There is no dress code and we will provide aprons to help avoid paint getting on your clothes. But since accidents do happen, it might be better to leave your best clothes and shoes home for the night, so you can focus more on having a good time.
Is there an age requirement to paint?
FOR WORKSHOPS:
Yes, our evening workshops are adults only (16+), but we do offer our Sunday afternoon workshops that are open for all ages.
FOR PRIVATE PARTIES:
Private parties are flexible and allow you to have whoever you'd like attend your event. Kids parties are offered for ages 5 and up.
How long does a workshop/party usually last?
Workshops and parties typically last between 2 - 2 1/2 hours, depending on the project design and techniques you choose.
Are food and drink allowed?
Yes! Please feel free to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks into the studio to enjoy while you paint. We also have a refrigerator in case you need to keep something cold.
Talk to me about the frames...
Frames can be added to our 8x8 mini boards, 12x12 square boards, 8x24 planks, and our 15x20 boards. When selecting a frame for our 15x20 size please note that instead of a pallet board you will receive a smooth board with a frame. Frames do slightly increase the size of the boards.
Can someone come with me to watch even if they are not painting?
Unfortunately, due to liability and safety restrictions we cannot have people in the studio during a workshop if they do not have a paid seat.
Can I sit by my friends?
Yes, absolutely! When you're checking out, just put the names of your friends who you would like to sit by in the notes section. Don't worry if you forget. You can always come a few minutes early and we can move your projects near each other.
What if I'm coming alone?
Don't worry, there will be plenty of fun and conversation to go around. We believe that our makers are also our friends and family so you won't be alone for long! Lots of friendships have been made while crafting.
Can I make more than one project at a workshop?
No, unfortunately due to time constraints we cannot allow makers to make multiple projects at a workshop. If there are multiple projects you'd like to make, we suggest registering for another workshop, purchasing a Maker Kit To-Go, or bring along a friend to paint it for you.
What is the cancellation policy?
FOR WORKSHOPS:
Due to the custom nature of the projects, we are unable to offer refunds for workshops. If you are unable to attend a workshop, please let us know and we can set your project aside for you to complete at a different workshop or to pick up as a Maker Kit To-Go.
Projects not rescheduled or picked up within 45 days of the missed workshop will be forfeited without a refund.
FOR PRIVATE PARTIES:
If a participant can no longer make the event, then their project will be held at the studio to be completed at a different workshop or to be picked up as a Maker Kit To-Go. No refunds will be given. Projects will be held for 45 days from the original private party date and then they will be restocked if they are not completed or picked up.
If a host needs to cancel the event, the $75 registration fee will be forfeited due to the custom nature of our products. If guests have already registered for the private party and paid for their project, their project will be set aside at the studio to either be completed at a regular workshop time or to be picked up to be painted at home.
When does registration close for workshops and private parties?
You will need to register for a workshop or party 3 days prior to the event date. This allows time for us to customize and cut your stencil, and to ensure all your materials will be ready for you when you arrive.
Can I choose my own colors for my project?
Of course! We have over 35 paint colors and stains to choose from. Our project gallery is there to give you ideas and show you the different project designs, but feel free to put your creative spin on it. We want you to have fun and choose colors that are your favorite or match your home. If you're feeling stuck, we'll have project examples you can look at for additional inspiration and our instructor can give advice on good color combinations.
Do you do personalization or customization?
Yes, we have projects in our gallery that show personalization with a name, year, or date. We also offer customization if you don't find just what you're looking for in our gallery. Customization does require an additional fee. Contact us via the contact us link at the bottom of the page or by email to request a custom order.
Can I just buy a sign that's painted already?
Yes, we will have finished projects in the studio that can be purchased. Also, you can click on a project in the gallery and select the "Painted for me by an instructor" option in the dropdown menu. You can then let us know if you would like it painted like the gallery picture or if you would prefer a different color scheme.
What kind of paint do you use?
We use high quality wood, water-based stains, and latex paints to allow the highest quality and longer lasting product.
Where should I park when I get to your home studio?
Feel free to park in the driveway or on the street in front of the house. When you arrive walk up the walkway toward the front door and you'll see the separate studio entrance on front porch to the right.
